Postcard Challenge 20

I'm getting there!
Here's the card for week 19!
This time we're supposed to pick a country in West Africa.
I'm not traveling, but making them send inspirational cards to each other! :)

Broes was happy to see another fun and bright card between his mail.
Too bad the message wasn't all that happy...
Right there he decided to take Emily out for the weekend, whether she wanted to go or not, they had to talk! He had the best idea for her to rent, he just wasn't sure how to bring it to her.
His proposal could be taken in two ways, of course he hoped she would be thankful and take the offer without thinking about it!
But he knew Emily a little and knew he had to tell a good story to make her buy it...

Photo of a beach in Cape Verde
Colored bright and tropical with Derwent colorsoft pencils
and it has a lovely blue distressed edge (that went a bit missing with scanning... *sigh*)

The back reads:

How about a small wooden house on this lovely beach in Cape Verde?
I want to invite you to go with me next weekend.
I think you can use a change of scenery, and your parents can use a break too...
Be ready Friday at 9am, I'll have you home on Sunday before 10pm
and in between we have a lot to talk about!
See you Friday!

Postcard Challenge 19

Okay, it took me a couple weeks but I finally found some time to make my next card for the Postcard Challenge over at Art and Sole!
Hopefully I can make a couple more and be all up-to-date in the challenge soon...
Here you can find the last card!

Emily is all surprised to receive a card from New Zealand and the skeins of Possum Merino feel so soft. She knows they have to transform into a beautiful shawl soon!

For now she has her hands full searching for a place to rent. She tried the official way through an organization and found out there's a waiting list of about 13 years!
Seriously?
The way it's going with her parents right now she's glad if they let her stay for 13 more days...

Snail House - Sofia - Bulgaria

The back reads:

I really don't feel like traveling right now.
My parents have been giving me a hard time and I decided it's time for me to move to my own place.
Unbelievable how some people can take the joy out of living!
I really like this snail house in Sofia.
Do you think they have a room to rent me???

XO Emily

Oh, did you notice she's so troubled she forgets to thank him for the yarn?!

Amari

Evelyn promised to do another KAL soon
after we knitted up the Wholehearted.
It's so much fun to see what yarn and color can do to a pattern!

Yesterday evening I started the Amari.
This time we can follow each other through Ravelry!
So much fun!
In my stash I discovered a couple balls of Drops Karisma
color 01, off-white
So far it's looking great but 100% wool is pretty warm to knit with now it's close to 30C/86F... :)

Pimpelliese

I had to go into town on Saturday
and suddenly I found myself in the yarn shop
where Cato fell in love with a ball of Rainbows.

Lana Grossa Cool Wool Merino Print Superfein
col. 703.

We bought two balls and searched on Ravelry for a nice shawl
We picked Pimpelliese!

At once the weather changed to very lovely
and we spend all our time in the yard and in the pool
and that gives me lots of time to knit!

And just like that it was already finished last night!
Hm, now to decide on my next project... :)

Cotton Candy Girl

Voordat alles hier in huis veranderde

Before our life here changed drastically
I thought I desperately needed another on line workshop
to be more precise the Cotton Candy Girl's class by Natasha May. :)
Here you can find her blog and all the info you need to join!

If you ask me this looks absolutely fabulous.
And the lessons are so much fun!
Very detailed videos, lots of information,
really worth every penny!

Here's my first canvas, ready to be thrown away...
Sadly my pen was water soluble and it made black stripes all over her face when I applied the glue...
And I hate the shimmer where the glue went. I could solve that by applying glue all over the canvas next time...
In the end, not too bad for the first time but definitely a lot to learn! :)

Teus is 6!

Wow, gewoon 6!

Wow, already 6!

And then it's time for a cake with a knight...

And something fun to give to his classmates,
gherkin, sausage and cheese on an 'umbrella',
because the weather was so terrible today...
In the back  are cups filled with Merci-chocolate for the teachers.

Natuurlijk waren er ook kadootjes...

Of course there was a mountain of gifts too...

De Nintendo 3DS was een topper!

The Nintendo 3DS was the bomb!

Still he spend half the afternoon outside with his new water gun
and he wasn't bothered by the rain.
I hope you've had a wonderful day and I wish you many more Happy Birthdays for the future!!!!

PS. Alles gaat hier goed, hoor!

PS. We're all fine! We have a new foster child in our home and that always brings about two weeks of getting to know each other and getting settled.
As soon as possible I will jump back in the challenges and will visit your blogs again!!!

Dagje kust

It's the best way to spent a day,
with the wind blowing in your face
and bare feet through the sand!
It didn't matter it was only 10C today...

Eerst de heuvel op naar boven...

First up the hill...

Then down the hill to the lake...

Do you see the little tadpoles?
We almost didn't make it past the lake...

Two of the Galloway bovine animals were very close to the path.
Look at this amazing fur it has.
Could you knit or crochet with this too?

Yes, a couple of parked bikes and I can hear the surf...
We're almost there!!!

And immidiately a lovely skull of a little crab or something...

These little houses can be rent for the Summer.
€ 300,- with one sunbed!
It's really small, no electricity, no toilet...
Ah well, let's say not in 300 years...

I love this photo of my four little ducklings!
It will be blown up and gets a lovely place in my home!!!

De dag zit er bijna op...
Dag zee, daaahaaag!
Ik kom gauw weer, hoor!

The day is coming to it's end...
Bye sea, byeeeeeee!!
I'll be back soon, really!

I love the sight of parked bikes, they make me feel at home!

 Leuk hè, zo'n wegwijs-paddestoel?

Isn't this cute? It's called a sign-toadstool when I translate directly from Dutch.

Spring Fever - ATC

I'm not sure if I can take the challenge every week at Wicked Wednesday!
But here's a new one:

The photo is pretty bad and scanning didn't work out because of all the tiny drops of Glossgel I used in the background...
Oh well, guess we just have to deal with it this week! :)

Postcard Challenge 18

Yikes, Friday again!
Last weeks card can be found here.
Come and travel with me...

Broes was ready to go back to work after two weeks of hanging around, walking the dog and making small repairs on his property.
He was happy when the phone rang but a little shaken when he found out he had to go all the way to Hamilton...
New Zealand!
That's at least 38 hours on the plane! What a way to start work again...

The province Waikato has the highest rate of dairy farming, there are about 1,415.000 dairy cows and they provide 29 - 35% of all milk products for export.
If he can sell those farmers on his device he might be able to quit working at 40!

This week I tried to paint an original Red Barn which you'll see all over the New Zealand country side.
It's a pencil drawing with watercolor.
And yes, I was a bit too quick here and there,
blame it on the children who have a break this week! ;)

The back reads:

Emily, you're not a wimp! You've grown up while they stayed teenagers!
I'm in Waikato at work this week and stumbled upon Knitsworld where they sell Possum-Merino.
I had to buy you two skeins to support the people here to decrease the population of Possums.
They eat too much native trees, plants and bird-life and are responsible for spreading diseases under sheep and cows.
I hope you will knit something nice and warm with it!
Where are you planning to travel next? It would be nice if we could hang out together again...
Broes

Don't forget to check out the other world travelers at Art and Sole!!!
I love your comments and will come by all of you to leave some love this week! :)
