Cross Town Challenge #7

Gelukt!

Nou ja, bijna...

Volgens de Challenge moest ik er eigenlijk 2 maken maar deze week was te kort voor alle dingen die ik moest wilde doen! :)

Made it!

Oh well, almost...

The Challenge was to make 2 but my week was way to short for all the things I had wanted to do! :)

Kijk, de voorkant van mijn kaart was nog niet eens zo moelijk...

Heerlijk gekleurd met mijn Derwent Colorsoft potloden en lekker veel restjes verstanst tot leuke bloemetjes en blaadjes. En klaar!

See, the front wasn't the Challenge...

I've been playing with my Derwent Colorsoft pencils and used lots of little snippets in my Big Shot to get sweet flowers and leaves. And done!

Die binnenkant was moeilijk...

Eerst op maat snijden, dat ging nog wel.

Maar wat ik er daarna mee doen moest? 

The inside was hard...

Cutting to size first, went okay.

But what to do then?

Uiteindelijk koos ik voor een mooie tekst en nog veel meer bloemetjes...

Gewoon omdat ze zo leuk zijn! :)

Hopla, in een envelop en op naar een glimlach op het gezicht van een vriendin!

In the end I choose a saying and cut out a whole bunch of flowers...

Just because they are so cute! :)

Slide it in an envelope and it's on its way to bring a smile on a friends face!

Socks are done

Weet je nog dat ik dit jaar sokken wilde breien,

twee tegelijk met de magic loop-methode?

Ze zijn klaar!!!

Remember that I wanted to knit a pair of socks this year,

two-at-a-time, magic loop-method?

They are done!!!

Het grappige is dat je dan dus gewoon door kunt breien tot je aan het eind van je bolletje bent

en ineens heerlijk lange sokken hebt die ook in je laarzen passen!

The fun thing is to knit on until the last piece of the yarn

and end up with socks long enough to wear in your boots!

Ik gebruikte deze tutorial van HeidiBears

en al ben ik niet helemaal tevreden over de hiel

het is wel een heel duidelijke uitleg met veel foto's!

and I might not be completely satisfied with my heels

it is a wonderful tutorial with lots of photos!

Ik gebruikte deze video voor het afkanten,

snel en makkelijk,

helemaal mijn stijl!

En nu genieten van mijn sokken!!! :)

it's quick and easy,

totally my style!

And now I'm off to enjoy my new socks!!! :)

En daar was weer een nieuwe uitdaging van Felicia

Ik kon het dus ook niet laten...

I couldn't resist...

Ik vond nog zo'n canvasje (20x20cm) van de Action

en wat andere leuke rommeltjes...

I found a canvas (8x8) and a couple of tidbits...

Ik maakte wat papieren roosjes en speelde wat met mijn mozaiek...

I made a couple of paper roses and played with the mosaic challenge...

En kwam tot dit resultaat! ♥

And ended up with this piece! ♥

 

Ik vind hem zo mooi geworden!

Mag je dat eigenlijk zeggen van je eigen maaksel?

I think it ended up so pretty!

Can I say that of my own creation?

 

Ik ben zo blij met mijn cardboard vogeltje...

I'm so happy how the cardboard bird ended up...

En mijn boeket roosjes...

En de pareltjes heb ik zelf geregen!

Oh, dit was zo leuk om te doen!!!

Ik ben heel benieuwd naar de volgende uitdaging...

Cross-Town-Challenge #4

Al een paar weken volg ik de reis van Felicia en Tracy in hun Cross-Town-Challenge,

ik ben gek op uitdagingen al was het me tot nu toe nog niet gelukt om mee te doen...

Ik had wat goed te maken!

Ik dacht een banner en een hart, dat kan niet moeilijk zijn!

Toch kostte me het 6 dagen nadenken voor ik er iets van maken kon...

I've been watching Felicia and Tracy play their Cross-Town-Challenge for a couple weeks and meant to join them but so far hadn't made it...

I had to make up for it!

I mean a banner and a heart was this weeks challenge. How hard can it be?

Well, hard enough to be thinking about it for 6 days straight...

Uiteindelijk is het gewoon maar een kaartje geworden

met rommeltjes uit mijn voorraad.

I ended up with a card,

all supplies from my stash.

Ik had zelfs nog foam-tape om het geheel wat reliëf te geven.

Ik ben blij dat ik eindelijk tijd gemaakt heb om de uitdaging aan te gaan en ga nu eens even bedenken wie ik ga verrassen met dit kaartje...

I even found some foam-tape to make my banner pop.

I'm glad I finally made some time to play and now I'm going to think about who I'm going to surprise with this card...

Breien voor BabyBorn...

... dat gaat snel!

In een paar dagen tijd een schattig vestje en een paar slofjes!

Knitting for the BabyBorn,

goes very fast!

In a couple days I finished this cute cardigan and a pair of booties! 

En geloof mij, Nikki (43cm) heeft ze nodig met dit barre weer!

Wol: Drops Karisma Superwash - kl.33, nld 3.5mm

And believe me, Nikki (43cm) needs them with this Winter weather!

En ga nu niet vragen waar haar broek is...

Cato kan niet blijer zijn, ze speelt en speelt...

Nu eens kijken wat er gebeurt als ik dezelfde patronen gebruik met sokkenwol en nld 2.5mm...

Ik hoop zo dat Sammie(32cm) ze dan past!

Mismatched Armwarmers

Ze zijn af!

Alweer een paar dagen,

ik was er alleen nog niet aan toegekomen om ze te laten zien...

Just haven't found time to show them yet...

 

 En het was heerlijk koud op de fiets dus ik ben er blij mee!

It's getting crispy cold on the bike so I'm really happy with this finish!

Patroon: Go To-Top van Lil Blue Boo 

Stof uit voorraad, waarschijnlijk minstens 2 jaar oud...

Pattern: Go To-Top by Lil Blue Boo

Fabric from stash, at least 2 years old...

Het patroon is echt heel makkelijk te naaien

alleen was het niet groot genoeg voor mijn enorme uit de Westfriese klei getrokken lijf dus heb ik wat centimeters toegevoegd hier en daar...

Op zich een succes, het shirt zit heerlijk, onderaan sluit hij netjes aan en boven heerlijk wijd,

helemaal wat ik in gedachten had!

Alleen die halslijn... Die mag wel wat smaller!

The pattern is really easy to sew up

it just wasn't big enough for my shape so I added a couple centimers here and there...

For a start a succes, the shirt feels wonderful, tight on the bottom and lovely wide at the top,

really what I had in mind!

Just the neckline... That could have been smaller!

 Ach, voor een eerste shirt met een nieuw patroon ben ik heel tevreden

en ik zie mezelf al snel op zoek gaan naar nog een lap tricot!

Toch jammer dat de temperatuur nu rond het nulpunt ligt en ik echt wel wat dikkers aan moet, wil ik een beetje op temperatuur blijven... :)

Oh well, for a first shirt with a new pattern I'm pretty much satisfied

and I can see myself looking out for another piece of stretch fabric soon!

Too bad temperatures are close to freezing and I really need to wear warmer clothes now if I want to stay warm and comfy... :)

 

Ja, het mooiste stukje...

Hihi, ik heb mijn label in de halslijn achter genaaid.

Echt, toen ik dat deed voelde ik me net een klein kind op de kade, uitkijkend naar Sinterklaas.

Ja, we gaan zo weer naar Monnickendam, hij is onderweg!!!

And the best part...

I sewed my label on the back of the neckline.

Really, I felt like a child, looking out for Sinterklaas (a little like Santa Claus) to arrive. 

Yes, we're about to leave to Monnickendam, he's almost here again!!!

 

Nieuwe outfit

New outfit for Nikki!

Het was echt alweer een hele poos geleden dat ik iets met mijn naaimachine gedaan had en ik had nog wat oude shirts van Teus en Cato liggen met wat vlekjes. Die konden niet doorgegeven worden maar waren eigenlijk nog te goed voor de container.

It's been a long while since I played with my sewing machine and I had a couple old shirts from Teus and Cato with some spots on it. I couldn't give them to someone else but they were too good to be just thrown in the bin.

 

 

Cato heeft het spelen met poppen echt helemaal ontdekt en is helemaal gelukkig met de nieuwe kleertjes voor haar Nikki. 

Het patroon komt uit een Knippie Idee Winter 2000.

Tja, wie wat bewaart, die heeft wat... :D

 

Cato really discovered playing with her dolls and is in heaven with the new outift for her Nikki.

Yeah, I knew there was a reason why I hold on to so many things... :)

 

   

Het is weer even heel stil geweest maar zo gaat dat soms in het leven. Als je mijn blog een beetje bij houd, heb je vast gezien dat we een pleegkind in huis hadden en hoewel we altijd ons best doen en vechten om het kind of hier te laten wonen of terug te brengen bij de ouders ging het in dit geval echt niet. Met pijn in ons hart hebben we voor ons eigen gezin moeten kiezen...

Het is goed nu, soms gaat het zo!

Het betekent niet dat we geen pleeggezin meer zijn, je zult mij nog immer horen praten over hoe mooi pleegzorg is, hoe fijn het is dat je een kind een veilig onderkomen kunt bieden, zonder zorgen over eten of slapen. We zijn weer een prachtige ervaring rijker, in pleegzorg is het nu eenmaal niet altijd rozengeur en maneschijn!

 

It's been very quiet here and somethimes that's life. If you keep up with my blog, you probably noticed we had a foster child in our home and while we always fight to make sure the child can stay here or go back to the parents it didn't work out this time. With a heavy heart we had to choose for our own family...

It's okay now, somtimes it's the way these things go! 

This doesn't mean we stopped with foster care, I will always talk about how beautiful foster care can be, how precious it is if you can provide a child with a safe home, without worries about dinner or where to sleep. We own another wonderful experience, foster care isn't always a bed of roses!

Ik heb er nu 4 af. Het patroon is makkelijk en leuk!

Ik ben nu bezig met vertalen. Dinsdag heb ik weer brei-café en dan hoop ik mijn vertaling even na te laten kijken.

Dus durf je het niet aan omdat het patroon Engelstalig is, kom dan woensdag nog even kijken!

I've knit up 4 hats already. The pattern is fun and easy!

I'm working on a Dutch translation and hopefully have that one checked up at my knitting café on Tuesday.

Postcard Challenge 22

Here you can find last weeks card!

Broes was a bit nervous but in hindsight he should have known moving Emily wouldn't be troublesome.

She was perfectly packed and didn't have all that much stuff.

She loved everything about the apartment and seemed to be at ease with the horses and cows in the barn. Even his buddy King, a mixture of unknown dog breads he saved from the animal shelter six years ago liked Emily, which was quite surprising since he didn't like people overall. 

Broes felt good about the decisions he made lately but went traveling with a heavy heart, he just wanted to be with Emily... Better not to show her too much and scare her away, take it easy and let her settle in first!

This week I made a menu in paint and printed it to stick to a card.

Simple but effective! :)

I'm trying very hard to catch up...

The back reads:

Amari (3)

Na mijn laatste update ben ik lekker verder gegaan

en is mijn Amari alweer af!

After my last update I kept on knitting

and now my Amari is finished!

 Het is echt supersnel gegaan!

En dat patroon van die rand viel reuze mee...

It went super-fast!

And the lace on the edge wasn't hard at all...

Ik snap alleen niet waarom mijn rand er heel anders uit ziet als het origineel...

Begrijp me goed, dat maakt het niet minder mooi

want ik vind hem prachtig geworden!

I just don't understand why my lace looks so different from the original...

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't make it less pretty

I love my lace!

Helaas klimt de temperatuur ineens weer omhoog

dus gaat deze wollen sjaal een poosje de kast in...

Laat de winter maar komen!

(Nou vooruit, na een beetje zomer dan...)

Too bad temperature is just going up

so this woolen shawl will go into my closet for a while...

I'm ready for Winter to come!
