Hoogste tijd om weer eens lekker met mijn naaimachine te spelen,

zeker als ik ooit een gat in mijn stofjes wil krijgen... :)

I felt it was time again to play with my sewing machine,

especially if I ever want to get a dent in my fabric stash... :)

Via via kwam ik bij deze tutorial op Handmade Therapy terecht

echt een heel duidelijke uitleg en heel makkelijk te naaien!

Hopping around I ended up at this tutorial at Handmade Therapy

really easy to follow and easy to sew up!

Natuurlijk koos ik weer voor een gezellige kleurencombinatie

maar je kunt net zo goed aarde-tinten ofzo gebruiken.

Ik denk dat ik dat nog wel het leukste vind van zelf naaien,

de vrije keuze in kleuren!

Of course I choose a bright color combination

but you could choose muted country colors just as well.

I think that's what I like most about sewing,

a free choice in colors!

Even vullen met wat lekkers en klaar voor mijn tas!

Nee hoor, natuurlijk ga ik hem weer swappen

en is de envelop nu op weg naar Mavis in de USA.

Als het goed is, vind ik er binnenkort ook eentje in mijn brievenbus... :)

Postcard Challenge 2012

Last weeks card is found here.

Our next destination is Belgium!

Broes holds the card with the Moulin Rouge in his hand, wondering how anybody can enjoy travelling around so much. He travels almost as much, he's about to hop on the Thalys to Antwerp but it is work-related, not just for fun...

Although that's not comepletely true. He wants to visit the bird market too.

Once there he sees a lovely little chocolate shoppe and with Valentines Day around the corner the window is filled with heart shaped boxes in pink and red.

It looks so inviting he buys a box, and once again Emily is on his mind.

At the train station he doesn't take the Thalys to Amsterdam but further away to Paris.

He wants to see Emily dancing!

He buys a card to go with his gift and will bring it to her personally...

This week is a drawing of a Belgian Draft Horse.

Colored with Distress Inks and a water brush.

The back reads:

I decided it was time for me to see what the Moulin Rouge is all about!

I hope you like my gift... I'm a little early for Valentines Day and am unsure if we know each other well enough or if you even like chocolate...

Tja, om mijn aankoop een beetje goed te maken

ben ik gelijk begonnen met breien.

Nou ja, een klein beetje

als in af en toe een paar steken tussen het buiten spelen door!

De dooi komt er aan dus we moeten er echt nog even van genieten met z'n allen!

Zo jammer van die Elfstedentocht...

Van mij mag de vrieskou volgende week weer terug komen, hoor!

The thaw is coming so we really have to enjoy the ice together now it's still here!

Too bad we didn't get the special tour on ice, the Elfstedentocht...

When you ask me the freezing temperatures can come back next week!

Even terug naar Gregory's beer...

Zo ver is ie al af!

Ziet er goed uit, hè?

En hij komt uit een halve bol wol van de Zeeman dus ik moet er nog maar en paar maken, denk ik...

Het patroon is goed te doen en ik vind het wel prettig dat hij elk deel gelijk vult na het breien.

Ik ben wel iemand die dan verschrikkelijk opziet tegen het vullen en dan blijven die losse lapjes maar liggen en liggen... Tot ze op een goede dag weer uitgehaald worden!

Dat gaat met dit schatje niet gebeuren, hoor!!! :)

The pattern is really easy to read and understand and I really like how he stuffs the pieces when you finish knitting. I'm one to procrastinate stuffing forever... Until I don't even know what it was supposed to become and I frog them!

Not going to happen to this baby!!! :)

Zo, zo mooi!

So, so lovely!

Buitenbaan De Pekel in Schellinkhout is open!

En dus vonden de schaatslessen daar plaats gisterochtend bij -18C...

The outdoor rink in town is open!

And now the lessons were there yesterdaymorning at -18C...

Na een kwartiertje aanmoedigen vanaf de kant begonnen mijn tenen te protesteren

dus ben ik een rondje gaan wandelen over de dijk.

Wat een uitzicht over het IJsselmeer!!!

After about 15 minutes my toes went extremely cold

so I went for a walk on the dike.

What a marvelous view over the lake!!!

Ook in de tuin vermaken we ons overigens prima.

Op de sloot om de tuin ligt een spiegelgladde ijsvloer

en onze ijsmeester is de beste!

We can entertain ourself perfectly in the garden too.

The water around our garden transformed into a mirror-like icefloor

and our 'chief of perfect ice' is the best!

Oeps, ik heb iets creatiefs gekocht...

Maar wel met een heel goede reden!!!

But with a very good excuse,

Van de week kocht ik dit brei-patroon

van een ontzettend schattig beertje...

In de hoop dat Gregory voorlopig lekker in zijn huisje kan blijven zitten.

Heeft hij wel verdiend na al zijn omzwervingen van het afgelopen zware jaar!

I hope Gregory can stay in this house for a while.

Something he deserves after the challenging past year.

En ik was echt van plan om hem te gaan breien van een wolletje uit mijn voorraad!

Echt!

Maar toen zag ik deze bollen liggen bij de Zeeman en dacht ik van Ach, die 3 Euro...

En nu allemaal even dat patroon gaan kopen en een beetje reclame maken voor Gregory zodat hij zich minstens de aankomende drie maanden geen zorgen hoeft te maken om de huur!!! :)

I planned to knit this bear from a yarn in my stash!

Really!

But then I saw these balls and thought Oh well, just 3 Euros...

And now you all go buy this pattern and advertise a bit for Gregory so he doesn't have to worry about paying the rent for at least three months!!! :)

Postcard Challenge 2012

Here you can find last weeks card.

Here we go again, another week flew by...

For the last time Emily wiggles her toes through the warm sand of the Copacabana beach. Her new friends are about to sail their Botter to France and they invited her to sail along, no cost just help out where needed, probably cleaning the loo and making coffee all day but she doesn’t care.

Emily feels this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and grabs it with both hands.
She sure will miss this lovely Brazilian beach a lot but part of her missed the idea of a Winter having snow. Broes’ last card from China, talking about freezing temperatures helps her decide on this next adventure.

And he wants to meet!!!
Emily’s heart is dancing, but how to arrange a rendez-vous while they both skim the globe?

And should she go pink again? Her hair now matches the beautiful turquoise of the Atlantic Ocean. Oh well, Paris calls and it’s a lot closer to Amsterdam than Rio…

This week I choose to draw my postcard

and highlighted the mill with acrylic paint.

The back reads:

Wood Icing

Ik was op zoek naar informatie over Mixed Media Art

en struikelde over deze Yahoo-group:

De techniek van de maand januari had te maken met Wood Icing

maar omdat ik mee doe met de UIU-challenge kon ik niet 'even' een pot bestellen

en ging ik op zoek in Nico's schuur

waar ik dit potje vond:

and stumbled upon this Yahoo-group:

The technique of Janary was workoing with Wood Icing

but since I took the pledge to UIU I couldn't order a jar

and I went on a hunt in Nico's workshop

where I found this jar:

met precies dezelfde kwaliteiten als de echte Wood Icing!

En begon ik met het pimpen van onze familie-kalender

(zo'n saaie reclame kalender die Nico altijd van onderaannemers krijgt)

die op het prikbord in de keuken hangt.

And I started pimping our family-planner

(an dull advertisement calender Nico receives at his work)

that hangs on the pinboard in our kitchen.

Het alfabet en het wolkje heb ik er mee gemaakt

maar wat vond ik het lastig...

Ik heb ze gekleurd met Pearl-Ex, wat ik ook nog ergens achter in de kast vond.

De rest van de achtergrond is met acrylverf gesponst.

I did the alphabet and the cloud with this stuff

but I thought it was pretty hard to work with...

I coloured them with Pearl-ex, what I also found in the back of my closet.

The rest is sponged with acrylic paints.

Met een van de leden, Pam heb ik de afspraak gemaakt om elke maand een kaartje met de geleerde techniek naar elkaar te sturen.

Dit is mijn kaartje geworden.

Ik heb hem vrijdag al gepost dus ik kan er geen betere scan/foto meer van maken...

Ik ben benieuwd wat we deze maand gaan leren! :)

On to this weeks challenge:

Broes walks through the crowded streets of Beijing.

The air was frosty, something he didn’t expect to find in China.
Something had gone terribly wrong at the airport and he ended up in this majestic city. He received many apologies, a real nice hotel room and a place on the first plane going to Amsterdam. Too bad that plane left in 48 hours. He really had no idea how to spend his time here and starts wandering, not looking for anything specific he finds out the year of the Dragon started and he is surrounded by festivities. How easy it is to absorb the energy flowing and join in the joy.
All the colors make him think of Emily. How is it possible, he met her only once. He figures he has to meet her again. He has to end this idiocy as soon as possible!

Het is gewoon alweer twee weken geleden dat ik deze foto liet zien...

It's already two weeks ago I showed this photo...

Inmiddels ben ik al een lekker eindje opgeschoten

en staan de steken voor de mouw op hulpdraden.

I managed to knit on nicely

and the stitches for the sleeves are on waste yarn.

Nog één pen en dan kan ik hem aan de voorkant sluiten,

dan begint het echt op een trui te lijken!

Just one more row and I can join this piece,

then it will really look like a sweater!

Nou, ik zal jullie niet langer lastig vallen

en ga die pen breien

en nog even passen of het zo echt wel goed komt...

I'll stop bothering you

and will knit this last row

and try on again to see if it still fits me...

Postcard Challenge 2012

This is what happens this week:

Emily puts her belongings back in her silly old suitcase with plaids in red and green. She found this love on a flea market a little over three years ago when she still lived with her parents in a dull small town and planned on some travelling. Her parents were strict, rules were there to be obeyed, and she longed for the day to turn 21 and be free to do what she wanted. The horrified look on her mother’s face when she saw Emily’s travel companion was priceless! Mrs. Jacobs warned her about how nobody would take her serious with such a valise and she wouldn’t get a room in a recommended hotel.
Oh, how far off her mother was, who wants to be in the Hilton when there are so many youth hostels and inns to meet new interesting people who didn’t worry about being in bed by nine?
She locks the door of this comfy room for the last time. There was no work at all in this area of Austria and after two weeks of seeing her savings shrink she decided to travel on to a yet unknown destination. She drops of the keys at the reception desk and receives her mail in return which she places in her suitcase to read later.
She goes to the airport and asks for a place on the first available flight. She learned those tickets were fairly cheap and she liked the surprise element of never knowing where to end up next.
After five minutes she was running after a flight attendant to catch her plane. Since her suitcase was small enough to carry on the plane there was just one passport check and before she knew it she was up in the air, settling in her chair for an almost 14 hour flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There was more than enough time to read her mail. She was surprised to find the card from Broes and felt something stirring, and it wasn’t because of the climbing of the plane…

This week Emily has send an envelope to Broes

Don't worry about the things you can't change...

Accept them, and do the things you can do!

At the moment I'm at the Copacabana Beach and it's 27C.

I received a job offer at a cocktail bar and it's wonderful!

This photo shows my marvelous view!!!

I'll be here for at least two weeks. Since you said you travel around too I'm sending you a Real.

If you are in the vicinity, come on over and I'll shake you your best cocktail ever!

En eerlijk is eerlijk, ik vind het ook geweldig gezellig!

Waarom UIU?

Omdat Abi en Sarah zo stoer waren om met hun billen bloot te gaan

en hun voorraad met de hele wereld te delen

dacht ik, dat ik dat ook wel kon...

Since Abi and Sarah were cool enough to go naked

and show their stash to the entire world

I thought, I could do that too...

Dit is de helft van de boekenkast in onze woonkamer

de onderste twee foto's laten zien wat er nog allemaal achter die dichte deurtjes verstopt zit...

Zoals je kunt zien is de kast nog niet eens helemaal af

en weet ik eigenlijk ook niet of dat ooit nog gebeuren gaat

dat wordt een behoorlijke verhuizing...

Dat was dan een rondje woonkamer,

Ik heb niets opgeruimd

zo erg is het echt

dus ik moet er eens aan de gang.

Nu eigenlijk!

En dit is dan mijn eigenlijke naaitafel met nog meer dozen stof...

Mijn naaimachine staat al een hele poos beneden in de boekenkast

omdat ik het boven zo ongezellig vind.

Af en toe hol ik er heen om iets op te halen en dan trek ik gauw de deur weer dicht...

Bink, Hannah en Oscar

Vanmorgen vroeg bracht ik mijn schatjes naar de Dierendokter,

niet omdat ze ziek waren, hoor!

Ze hadden het voorjaar in hun kop!

Maar wisten eigenlijk niet zo goed wat ze daar mee aan moesten...

En maar janken en schreeuwen en zeuren

en als je ze maar even aait, gelijk die kont toedraaien.

Nou, vond ik niet zo fris eigenlijk...

Early this morning I took my sweeties to the Vet,

not because they were sick, don't worry!

They were rutting (well, the girls, not Oscar)

and had no idea what to do with that!

I got insane of the screaming and whining

and when you touch them, they turn their butt up...

Well, I didn't like that, at all...

En dus mochten ze even langs komen

en kon ik om half 2 even bellen hoe het met ze ging.

Goh, wat ben je dan blij als ze zeggen dat ze lekker met zijn drieën in een hokje liggen

en goed wakker geworden zijn...

Zo'n dierenarts doet wel alsof het niks is,

maar het zijn wel onze vriendjes, hoor!

Gelukkig heb ik een hele lieve dierenarts die het helemaal niet gek vind dat ik even bel...

Of dat in elk geval niet laat blijken! :)

And so I made the appointment and today is The Day.

I called at 1.30pm to ask how they were doing.

They were together in a cage and woke up okay...

Pfew, the vet pretends like it's nothing,

but they are our friends, you know!

I'm so glad to have such a sweet vet who doesn't mind me calling...

Or at least he doesn't show! :)

En nu zijn ze weer lekker veilig thuis.
Druk bezig met herstellen.
De meisjes hebben nog voor twee dagen pijnstillers meegekregen
en moeten vijf dagen binnen blijven
en dan over tien dagen mag ik de hechting verwijderen.

And now they are safely home again.
Busy with recovering.
The girls have painkillers for two days
have to stay inside for five days
and I can remove the stitch in ten days.

Oscar ligt op mijn schoot
zijn eigen vertrouwde plekje.
Hij krijgt een klein korstje en mag morgen weer naar buiten.
Niks geen gehannes met wondverzorging of pillen,
maar ja, hij is ook een man
dus misschien is dat maar goed ook! :)

Oscar is on my lap
his own safe place.
He is allowed to go outside tomorrow.
No hassle with meds or the wound,
but he's a man
so maybe that's for the better! :)

And the story continues...

The weather was terrible when Broescame home from his latest business trip, the rain fell in a steady rhythm onhis rooftop and made it hard to see anything through his windshield, despitethe hard work of his wipers. He stoppedat the start of his driveway to grab the mail and tossed it on the front seatnext to him. That’s when his eyes fell on a colorful postcard and he sat therereading the note at his dashboard light, not knowing what he should make ofthis girl…

Three days later the sky was still grey.He just packed his travel bag again to leave for an emergency repair on a farm in Spain. He grabs his keys from the counter andspots Emily’s card. He looks outside at the grey sky and sees three rays ofsunshine peeping through the dark clouds enlightening the fields behind hisproperty. After a deep sigh he places the card in his bag. Maybe he should justtell her what he thinks of her so called advice…

The card reads:

Ouch Emily! How could I wave all troubles away when the first thing I ran into at the airport was a petition against Bull Fighting?

Cows are my world, my life, ever since I invented a new milking device which I'm now selling all over the globe.

Must admit you are bringing color to my days since I think bout you a lot...

And I try to smile more at the people I meet!

Een trui...

Niet vergeten! Vanavond van 20-22u is er weer brei-café in de Keizerskroon in Hoorn!!!

Voor dit jaar heb ik boven aan mijn Wil-ik-heel-graag-doen-dit-jaar lijstje

een trui/vest breien voor mezelf gezet.

Ik heb al een aantal hele leuke patronen verzameld

en na een half uurtje Ravelry heb je er zo nog een heleboel bij...

Uiteindelijk heb ik gekozen voor de Pioneer!

This year on top of my Really-want-to-make-this-year list

I put to knit a sweater/cardigan for myself.

I already have quite some patterns

and after a half hour on Ravelry I have even more...

In the end I picked the Pioneer!

O ja, nog een héél eind te gaan...

Ik heb ook geen idee of het met de maat goed gaat komen

of dat ik misschien toch nog een keer opnieuw moet beginnen?

Gelukkig werkt dit patroon van boven naar beneden

dus ben je er al gauw achter of het past.

Ik heb al een aantal keer eerder een voor- en achterpand gebreid

om er na het aan elkaar zetten achter te komen dat het veel te groot geworden is...

Oy yes, lots of knitting to go...

I have no idea if this size works out for me

or if I need to start over again in another size?

Luckily this pattern is top-down

and I can try it on pretty quick to test the fit.

I have knit fronts and backs before

to find out it was way to big after sewing it...

Achter in mijn kast vond ik nog 11 bollen

Drops Alpaca Aubergine 4400.

De bollen zijn echt knuffel-zacht.

Wat zou het heerlijk zijn om daar een trui van aan te hebben!!! :)

In the back of my closet I found 11 balls of

Drops Alpaca Dark Purple 4400.

The balls feel wonderfully soft.

It would be so nice to wear a sweater of it!!! :)

Postcard Challenge 2012

Opeens lijkt het wel of iedereen mee doet met de uitdaging van Darcy

en ik dacht eerst dat zo'n wekelijkse uitdaging toch niets voor mij was

maar mijn onderbewuste dacht er anders over en ik werd 's nachts wakker

van mijn twee karakters, wie ze waren en hoe ze elkaar ontmoet hadden! :)

Omdat dit een Engelse challenge is heb ik hem in het Engels uitgewerkt,

het is geen doen om alles te vertalen nu.

Maar in het kort komt het er op neer dat ik elke week een ansichtkaart maak en verstuur vanuit een ander land. Dat land wordt op maandags bekend gemaakt op Darcy's blog.

Ik kijk er naar uit!

but I woke up in the middle of the night

thinking of my two characters, who they were and where they met! :)

Here's my story so far:

They meet on a rainy night atthe cinema in Amsterdam. Emily is weaving in pink dreads since there’s not one soul on the street. She knows she’ssupposed to be sitting there smiling like the cinema has the busiest night ofthe century but in fact she sold no ticket and didn’t even turn on the popcornmachine…

She’s startled when shesees a big head of dark curls popping up at the window and when she looks upshe’s looking into the brightest blue eyes she has ever seen before. The man istalking to her but she doesn’t hear a word of what he says. Once she shakes herhead she understands he wants to know if there’s anything worth seeing tonight.

The only thing that popsup in her mind is her room at the inn but that’s probably not what he meant .She points at the board at her left side with the schedule and lets him knowher favorite of the night. After only a few seconds he buys a ticket andthanks her for her help and is off to watch… Rio.

Oh my gosh, she thinks.What did I do? How can I send the cutest guy on earth to Rio?

Right then and there shedecides she will be in the private room when the film ends!

Geen idee of mijn uitwerking volgens 'de regels' is

I started with a small square of Wonder Under on which I drew the flower applique

Leg de lagen netjes op elkaar

(voor de foto heb ik ze even naast elkaar gelegd om de volgorde te laten zien)

Ik gebruik een stukje bakpapier om mijn strijkplank schoon te houden

dan de papieren onderlaag

Neem twee mutsdelen en speld ze met de goede kanten op elkaar

naai ze aan elkaar met een zigzag of stretchsteek

Take two hat parts and pin them right sides together

When you repeat this four times it already looks like a little hat

Nu je bies doormidden vouwen met de goede kanten op elkaar

en op de korte kant aan elkaar naaien

Vorig jaar nam ik me voor om meer te gaan lezen

Ik ben het jaar geëindigd met Shanna Swendson. Lekker!

Helaas zijn er nog maar twee in het Nederlands vertaald...

Eigenlijk voelt het verhaal nog altijd niet helemaal af. Katie en Owen zijn bij elkaar maar je voelt dat er zomaar weer iets zou kunnen gebeuren om ze uit elkaar te drijven...

De schrijfster wil graag verder schrijven maar de uitgever zegt dat er te weinig boeken zijn verkocht dus als jullie nu massaal deze boeken bestellen en gaan lezen dan kom te er voor mij misschien toch nog een echt einde aan het verhaal van Katie en Owen! :)

The writer would love to work on part 5 but the publisher says she hasn't been selling enough of the previous books.

So, if you all can advertise a bit and buy the books I might be able to know how it really ends between them... :)

Die kerstdagen zijn lang en lui

ging ik gister een dagje naar Joure.

Terwijl mijn agenda helemaal zwart oogt van de afspraken

kreeg ik een beetje keelpijn

gevolgd door nachtenlange hoestbuien

en dagen vol schele hoofdpijn

en wilde ik alleen maar dit uitzicht:

Vreemde vogel

Zoals de meesten inmiddels wel weten

wonen wij in een oude boerderij.

Daarbij hoort natuurlijk ook een tuin

of een erf, zoals dat vroeger heette...

Daar scharrelt van alles rond

zoals onze eigen kippen

maar er komt ook allerlei ander leuks langs.

En dan maak ik gauw een foto en zoeken we even op welk soort dat nu eigenlijk is.

We live in an old farmhouse

and we have a nice garden.

We have our own chickens

but there are also a lot of other birds visiting.

When we see someone new I like to take a photo

and with the children we go through the books to see which one it is.

Zo hebben we in de afgelopen jaren merels, roodborstjes, mussen,

zwanen, duiven, eksters, koolmeesjes en een lepelaar op visite gehad.

Die zoek je dan zo even op...

In the past years we've hosted blackbirds, swans, doves, robins,

magpies, great tits and a spoonbill.

Nu zat ik van de week aan mijn keukentafel

met een kopje thee

te genieten van mijn uitzicht

toen er wel een heel vreemd vogeltje in mijn huisje wilde gaan kijken...

Ik was gelijk verliefd op de steek,

het hele plaatje zag er zo comfortabel uit!

In elk geval heb ik snel mijn paar sokken afgemaakt en mijn eigen sjaal opgezet...

Tja, als je je dochters poppen geeft

hoort daar ook een garderobe bij...

Ik ben begonnen met een luiertje

van wat restjes stof.

When you give your daughters new dolls

they also need a wardrobe...

I started with a little nappy

made of some fabric scraps.

Echt appeltje-eitje!

Ik begon met deze tutorial

en gebruikte 12cm loop tape (2cm breed) op het buikstuk

2 stukjes hook tape van 3cm (2cm breed) op de flapjes

voor het been elastiek nam ik 2 stukjes van 8cm (0,6cm breed)

Ik heb geen elastiek op de achterkant gedaan

Really, so easy!

I started with this tutorial

En dit kreeg ik allemaal omdat een swap via Swap-bot

van de zomer niet aangekomen is!

En ik iemand niet zomaar een slechte rating geef...

Nog meer sinterklaas...

...want vandaag is het Grote feest op school.

Youp en Zara zijn inmiddels zo groot dat ze sinterklaas moeten helpen

Er werden lootjes getrokken in de klas

Er moest een kado gekocht worden voor €2,50

En met een surprise en een gedicht moest dat vanmorgen om 8u op school afgeleverd worden

*gaap*

Even more Sinterklaas since today is the Big party at school

Youp and Zara have to help out and had to buy a gift for a classmate

and dress it up with a surprise and a poem

All this had to be delivered at school at 8am

*yawn*

Natuurlijk ben ik ook weer verwend door sinterklaas!

Niets creatiefs dit keer...

Maar wel 2 kraskalenders en een staatslot!

Stel je voor dat ik een ton win...

Ik denk dat ik dan lekker een nieuwe fiets voor mezelf ga kopen...

Hoe kunnen ze serieus nog een kindje willen?

Ik heb mijn meisjes allebei een Baby Born gegeven

waar ze zelf een naam voor mochten uitkiezen

en ik ga in 2012 eens lekker poppenkleertjes naaien!

They already are with four of them and half of the week with five...

How can they be serious about another sister?

Oef, het is gewoon al december...

En december is echt zo'n laatste maand.

Elke dag is er wel iets wat ik gewoon voor het laatst doe in 2011!

Whoa, it's December already...

And December really is a month of lasts.

Every day there's something I'm doing for the last time in 2011!

Zoals de schoentjes zetten

(of in mijn geval vullen)

Like putting the shoes ready for Sinterklaas

(or in my case filling them in name of Sinterklaas)

En er was het Grote Sinterklaasfeest

waar ze allemaal precíes kregen

wat ze áltijd al wilden hebben!

Vooral weer kilo's Lego

En de Pinypon-collectie is compleet

en ein-de-lijk heeft Zara die digitale camera.

Wel roze natuurlijk!

Wat is het toch een heerlijk verwen-feest!!!

Daaaaaag Sinterklaas! U komt volgend jaar toch weer???

...maar heb het gewoon even veel te druk! :)

I'm still here, just very busy at the moment! :)

Zo waren Teus en Cato een dagje ziekjes thuis...

Teus and Cato where home for a day, feeling not all that great...

En kregen we een nieuwe betonnen achterstraat gestort.

Ohw, wat was dat leuk!

Nou ja, niet het opruimen en neerleggen en vlechten van de matten enzo

maar toen die grote wagens kwamen en 13m³ beton in tijd van een paar uurtjes lag

dat was Leuk!

We made a new concrete floor in our back garden.

That was fun!

Well, not the cleaning up and making everything ready which took us a week

but when the big trucks came and it was done in a couple of hours

that was Fun!

We gingen nog een dag naar Monnickendam voor de intocht van Sinterklaas

daar kwam hij gewoon een week later als in de rest van het land...

En zo konden we gelijk even binnen kijken bij Ome René

die zijn hele kerststad alweer had neergezet!

We went to Monnickendam for a day to see Sinterklaas arrive (again)

That gave us a chance to peek at the Santa-city in the house of uncle René!

Flip de Beer kwam weer een weekendje logeren bij Teus...

Flip the bear came home from school to spend a weekend with Teus again...

Eigenlijk ben ik wel toe aan even niets...

Lekker even zitten, voetjes omhoog...

Maar met het Grote sinterklaasfeest nog maar een weekje weg

zijn de kinderen nogal...

Nou ja, niet helemaal zichzelf zeg maar! :)

Ooit, lang geleden

ging ik voor het eerst een weekendje weg...

zonder gezin

I went away for the first time for an entire weekend...

without my family

Dat beviel zo goed

dat ik afgelopen weekend weer gegaan ben...

I liked it so much

I went again this past weekend...

En ik ben zo serieus bezig geweest

I've been doing so much

Zelfs gelijk 's morgens vroeg in mijn pyama

terwijl ik amper geslapen heb

En wat hebben we weer gelachen

And we have laughed so much

En ik heb veel te veel gesnoept

Maar ik had geen moment willen missen!

In maart ga ik weer...

Vandaag is het dierendag...

Today we celebrate all animals...

Niet dat mijn beestjes dat zo erg nodig hebben...

Not that our pets really need a day like this...

Zij liggen altijd op de lekkerste plekjes...

They always have the best spots to rest...

Twee keer per dag lekker eten...

Good food, twice a day...

Ze mogen me zelfs storen tijdens mijn huishoudelijke verplichtingen

voor wat gekriebel en geaai...

They're even allowed to disturb me during the household chores

for some scratching and petting...

Mogen fotosessies verstoren...

Can disturb photosessions...

En zelfs mijn kleine beetje tijd op de computer

mogen ze delen...

Mocht ik ooit als huisdier terug komen dan graag in een gezin als het mijne!

And even the little time on the laptop is shared with them...

If I get another life as a pet I hope to live in a family like mine!

Helaas zijn er ook heel veel dieren die niet hier oud worden

maar al heel jong vetgemest en geslacht worden

voor consumptie...

Daarom eten wij deze week vegetarisch!

Het zal niet de wereld redden maar een beter begin, start nog altijd bij jezelf!!! :)

Unfortunately there are still lots of animals that won't get old

They have to grow as fast as possible to be left at the butcher...

That's why we have vegetarian food this week!

It won't save the world but a change for the better always starts by doing yourself!!! :)

Ooit, lang geleden breide ik een paar sokken

Ik dacht dat ik dat niet zo leuk vond om te doen

maar de sokken voelen echt heerlijk aan mijn voetjes

en ik draag ze nog altijd met veel plezier!

En dus werd het tijd voor nog een paar...

Once, a long time a go I knitted a pair of socks

I thought I didn't like to knit socks

bt they feel so wonderfully on my feet

and it's still a pleasure to wear them!

And so I decided to knit another pair...

En weet je, zo erg is het helemaal niet

als je maar stap-voor-stap denkt

dus niet in 1x de hele sok maar eerst de boord

en dan de schacht

en de hiel, dat is maar een recht lapje, dat kan ik wel

dan de voet en voor je het weet minder je alweer voor de teen

en zet je zomaar de tweede sok op de pennen!

And honestly, it isn't so bad

just take it step-by-step

don't think about the entire sock, first the ribbing

then the leg

and the heel, it's just a flap, I can knit that

then the foot and before I know it it's time to decrease for the toe

and I'm putting my second sock on the needles!

Oh, wat was het spannend gister...

Teus zijn 1e echte wedstrijd!

En daarvoor de verloting van de team namen!

Want spelen in de Champions League is echt heel serieus!

Voor elk team werden lootjes getrokken

en zo is Nic nu coach van en Teus speler van...

AC MILAN!!!

Oh, it was so exciting yesterday...

Teus had his first real match!

And before the game started the team names were announced!

Playing in the Champions League is very serious!

For every team they pulled a name from a bowl

and that's how Nic became coach of and Teus player of...

AC MILAN!!!

Aan het eind van het seizoen gaat een team er met deze prachtige beker vandoor...

Ik wil niet op de zaken vooruit lopen maar dat wordt AC MILAN natuurlijk!

At the end of the season one team goes home with this cup...

Well, that will be AC MILAN of course!

Teus liep... Teus rende...

We zagen vonken onder zijn nieuwe kicksen vandaan komen...

Toch verloor hij zijn 1e wedstrijd met 1 - 4...

Teus walked... Teus ran...

He worked só hard...

Still he lost his first match, 1 - 4...

Na een korte break met limonade

ging het ineens véél beter!

En de tweede wedstrijd werd gewonnen

8 - 1 !!!

Maar eigenlijk is dat helemaal niet belangrijk...

Ons mannetje had plezier en genoot

en daar gaat het toch eigenlijk om op de vroege zaterdagochtend?!

In the end it's not important if they win or loose...

Our little man enjoyed himself and had fun

Vandaag was een grote dag

voor onze Teus.

Gisteravond kon hij al niet eten

en in slaap vallen wilde ook niet erg lukken...

En om kwart over 6 vroeg hij al of het tijd was om op te staan!

En het eerste wat hij zei was

of hij dan vandaag eindelijk te voetballen mocht.

Ja kind, de grote dag is eindelijk daar!

Today was a big day

for our Teus.

Yesterday evening he couldn't eat much at dinner

and falling asleep was hard too...

And at a quarter past 6 he asked if it was time to get up already!

And the first thing he said was

if it's finally the day for his first soccer practise.

Yes child, the big day is finally here!

Hij heeft genoten! :)

Zaterdag is zijn eerste echte wedstrijd...

He was in heaven! :)

Saturday is his first real match...

Dat is niet zo vreemd als je ziet hoe veel ze eten

en hoe vaak ze ergens liggen te slapen.

Which should not be a big surprise since they're eating

or sleeping most of the time.

School is ook heel erg vermoeiend...

School does make you very tired...

En ik ben ook nog lang niet gewend aan het nieuwe ritme...

Er is altijd zo veel te doen of op te lossen

voorlopig verveel ik me nog niet met alle kinderen op school! :)

And I'm not used to the new routine either...

There's always so much to do or arrange

for now it's not boring with all children in school! :)

Augustus begon PRACHTIG!!!

De was droogde aan de lijn

en ik zat achter in de tuin

te genieten van Harry Potter...

August started BEAUTIFUL!!!

Eindelijk hebben wij ook vakantie! :)

Finally...

Our Summer vacation started! :)

We hebben afscheid genomen op de peuterspeelzaal.

Over 6 weken begint het echte werk in groep 1! ;)

We said our goodbyes at playschool.

In 6 weeks start the hard work in group 1! ;)

We leren de poesjes buiten spelen,

helaas hollen ze hard naar binnen als de nood hoog word... :(

We learn the kitties to play outside,

too bad they still run inside to the litter... :(

Ik maakte nog een aantal mooie enveloppen,

die op dit moment de wereld weer overvliegen.

I made some more Mail Art envies,

they're flying around the world right now...

En nu ga ik hun voorbeeld volgen

en lekker mijn bed in.

Ik heb alweer een paar dagen hoofdpijn die niet weg wil...

De vakantie dus maar benutten om eens even rustig aan te doen! :)

And now I'm going to take their example

and take off to my bed.

The last couple days I'm bothered with a nagging head ache...

I'm going to use the vacation to relax a little! :)

Voorlopig kom ik tijd te kort...

Weer eens heerlijk met mijn stempeltjes en papier aan het spelen geweest...

Finally I've been playing with my stamps and papers again...

Beetje scheuren... Beetje plakken... Beetje knippen... Knoeien met inkt...

Some tearing... some glueing... some cutting... some smearing with ink...

En hopla, er zijn zomaar weer 12 leuke ATC's ontstaan!

Al die swaps maken en versturen is natuurlijk heel leuk,

maar met regelmaat ligt er dus ook iets in mijn brievenbusje.

En dat is nog veel leuker! :)

Sneeuwwitje

Gister heb ik de hele dag zo'n beetje met mijn naaimachine gespeeld...

Het ridderpak was stuk...

De sneeuwwitje jurk was stuk...

En de sneeuwwitje haarstrik was echt weg...

Dus naaide ik een nieuwe

voor het Sprookjes Jubileumfeest van vandaag.

I spend yesterday playing with my sewing machine...

The costume for the knight needed some repair...

And Snowwhites dress too...

And Snowwhites hairbow was missing...

So I made a new one

for today's Fairytale Day at school.

Tussendoor bakte ik ook weer 20 saucijzenbroodjes

die ik zo even opwarm en wegbreng voor de lunch op school.

Dat is wel een raar idee...

Cato en ik samen lunchen.

Maar even iets extra lekkers bedenken voor ons twee!

In between I made 20 sausage rolls

I'll heat them up and take them to school before lunch.

Weird idea, having them all eat lunch at school...

Just Cato and me home for lunch.

I'm making something extra special for the two of us!

Cato en Oscar zijn echt dikke vriendjes!

Ze kunnen uren samen zitten knuffelen en hard spinnen dat hij doet...

Cato and Oscar really are best friends!

They can pet and purrr together for hours...

Niet te geloven dat dit meisje na de zomervakantie ook naar school moet...

Wat zal het stil worden in huis!

Voorlopig duurt het nog 4 weken voordat we vakantie hebben gelukkig!

I can't believe this little girl has to start school after Summer holidays...

It will be so still around the house!

I'm glad we have another 4 weeks of school to go before the holidays!
